Ultherapy opens the eye area only from above, through the brow lift it is FDA-cleared in the US for: as the brow rises, the upper lid looks more open and the hooded look eases. The label warns against treating the eyes, the eyelids and inside the orbital rim, so the lines are never placed around the eyes. Merz makes no claim for eye bags or dark circles. One session, with the price in writing at a free consultation at Ultherapy London, 130 Harley Street.
What the brow lift does for the eyes
In the 2010 study of 35 people the brow was measured higher after one treatment, and a higher brow takes the weight off the upper lid. In our experience, crow's feet at the outer corner soften a little as the temple tightens. A bag of fat, a hollow or a dark circle that is pigment are not what the ultrasound changes, and the clinician says at the free consultation which route fits.
What the label says
Merz's instructions warn against the eyes, the eyelids and inside the orbital rim, and in our practice the lines stay above the brow and outside the bone around the eye. The can it go wrong page sets out the risks plainly. The brow page covers the lift itself.
The session and the result
About 30 minutes for the brow and forehead, with a comfort plan agreed beforehand; redness for a few hours, swelling for a day or three, tenderness for up to two weeks. The lift builds over three to six months, when we photograph it, and holds for around a year in our experience.
