A soft, loosening neck is a use Ultherapy is FDA-cleared in the US for: to lift lax neck tissue. It was cleared in 2012 on a study in which 51 of 70 patients reached the lift threshold under the chin and on the neck. The clinician runs lines of focused ultrasound down the neck at the depths chosen from the image, 1.5, 3.0 or 4.5 mm, kept away from the thyroid, the windpipe and the major vessels and nerves as the label requires. The heat builds new collagen over three to six months so the neck tightens. One session, with the price in writing at a free consultation at Ultherapy London, 130 Harley Street.
What it does on the neck
The skin of the neck lifts and, in our experience, the horizontal lines soften, for a measured, natural change rather than a surgical neck lift. A heavy, loose neck or a band is more than Ultherapy lifts. For a neck with heavier laxity the clinician may plan EMface, which we also provide, to keep the lift, with the order decided at the free consultation.
What the study measured
In the study behind the 2012 clearance, 51 of 70 patients reached the lift threshold under the chin and on the neck, and reviewers who did not know which photograph was taken first saw improvement in 84% of those. The neck and jawline page sets it out beside the 2014 lower-face study.
The session and the result
About 45 minutes for the neck, or 60 to 90 with the face, with a comfort plan agreed beforehand. Redness for a few hours, swelling for a day or three, tenderness for up to two weeks, a passing tingling along a nerve in some people. The lift builds over three to six months, when we photograph it, and holds for around a year in our experience, with a repeat considered after 12 to 18 months.
