The temples, the thin skin beside the outer eye that supports the tail of the brow, were treated with the forehead and the cheeks in the 2010 brow-lift study of 35 people. No clearance names the temples on their own, and we say so. The clinician runs lines of focused ultrasound under the temple at the depths chosen from the image, kept outside the bone around the eye as the label requires. The heat sets off the body's healing response, which builds new collagen over three to six months and lifts the tail of the brow. What it does at the temples
In our experience, tightening the temple lifts the outer brow and softens the lines that fan from the outer eye. A hollow temple is a volume question, which the ultrasound does not change, and the clinician says so at the free consultation. Loss of fat has been reported rarely in the published studies, so a slim temple is treated with care and the depth chosen per zone with the image.
What the study measured
In the 2010 study, 35 people were evaluated after one treatment of the forehead, temples, cheeks, under the chin and the side of the neck, with the brow measured higher by blinded assessment. The full-face page sets out the figures.
The session and the result
About 15 minutes for both temples within a face session of 60 to 90 minutes, with a comfort plan agreed beforehand; redness for a few hours, swelling for a day or three, tenderness for up to two weeks. The result builds over three to six months, when we photograph it, and holds for around a year in our experience.
